Crossed swords patch

This came in a small lot of stuff from an online auction. Some I know is reproduction stuff like an Allegheny Arsenal 1861 brass saddle shield and some of it was genuine. This patch I've not been able to find doing Google image searches but you guys know more than they do. It's got either a #6 or a #9 depending on which way it's supposed to go and it looks old.

Your photo of the insignia is upside down, so this is a 9. It's a reenactor replica of the insignia worn by an officer of cavalry on the Hardee or Dress Hat as per the 1850's Regulations that carried into the war until rescinded by those of 1872.
