We all know about the corruption of Secretary of War, Simon Cameron, and the corruption in the United States Congress is legendary. However, how bad was the corruption in the Confederacy by comparison? I must confess to knowing absolutely nothing on this topic.

Not to delve into modern politics, but Fortune Magazine recently named Mississippi as the most corrupt state in the nation and this is what got me to thinking about this subject. I could write volumes on the dirty politicians here, so I guess there is still lingering corruption in the water. :)
