Cornbread During The Civil War

Thanks for the link! Enjoyed it almost as much as eating cornbread. I have frequently enjoyed couple-of-day-old cornbread with a little coffee, or sometimes warm milk poured over it. The hardest part to that treat is keeping the cornbread around for a few days.

Well I know my mother didn't know she'd been making and eating Yankee cornbread all her life. I didn't think Yankees ate cornbread.

We make it whenever we make soup and sometimes for breakfast. It's good with lot's of things. The historic mill where we've bought our cornmeal for twenty years burned down on new year's eve so once our stash is gone I'm not sure what we'll do. May have to lower ourselves and get in line at the grocery store with the masses.
