But unfortunately I won't be going, even though I work for the company!!!
I happen to work for a really well-respected guided tour operator (Tauck), and the company has a partnership with Ken Burns - yes, THAT Ken Burns - to produce different trips based on the topics of his films. Later this year the company will be hosting a five-day event that focuses on the Civil War at places in and around Washington, DC (spots like Manassas, Ford's Theatre, Arlington, National Archives, etc). We ran this same event last year and it sold out in just 10 days, so we're running it two times this year, in May and October.
The highlight is probably a private evening in the National Archives, where Ken Burns will meet everyone and deliver a keynote speech. I'm so bummed out I can't go.
I'd love to hear people's thoughts on the trip! To check out the details, just go to http://www.tauck.com/tours/usa-tour...vil-war-kv-2012.aspx?TestVersion=HeroVersionA
