I know these books are about a hundred years earlier than our common area of interest but I thought a few of you might like these. The first book is The Pennsylvania Housewife English Household Receipts in the Middle Colonies. this book is interesting because it gives details on cooking methods, whether the items were cooked at home or in camp and the specific time of year the foods would have been eaten. It gives dates of the recipes as well.
The second book is called a A Compendium of Useful Information for Culinary Historians Made Plain and Eafy this book gives a lot of information on spices, where they came from and how they were used at the time. Again I know these books are early but I imagine there isn't a whole lot of change between time periods. I don't know how difficult it would be to get these as they were given to me and I no longer have the covers to them. (When my dog was a puppy he shredded them, I guess they smelled like the kitchen)
