have a brandy spur that was published and has a civil war field repair book is "confederate,US and other civil war used spurs page 33 just wondering does a field repair add or take away from what the spur is worth thank you
I'm not a collector, but if I was, I would pay extra for a field repair if it could be authenticated as a repair made during the war. If it could be, it certainly would personalize the artifact.

Welcome to Soldiers Who Fought on Horseback Cavalry forum.
I would think a field repair done by a soldier would reduce the value but not as much as a modern day repair. Perfect condition, or dug "perfect condition " is best and any modifications take away from the value.
