I believe this to be the first use of self-propelled artillery.

When the CIA first started supporting the Afghans against the Soviets, they sought out the best mules they could find to send to the Afghans with the idea that they would be a reuseable asset. However, they were told that the Afghans needed many more mules than it seemed possible and upon investigation, it was discovered that instead of taking care of and using the mules; they were being eaten.
 
In Britain for some reason horsemeat is these days considered a French dish and therefore weird and foreign. This forgets that the last butcher's that only sold horsemeat (no beef, lamb, pork etc) in my city closed down in the 1970's, so not that long ago. I am told it is much the same elsewhere in the country...
