I'm new to this forum.My interest lies in the [SIZE=-1]Confederate Partisan Ranger,especially in John Hanson McNeill Rangers.
I read a lot about [/SIZE]Nathan Bedford Forrest,John Hunt Morgan,John Singleton Mosby but only a few about the McNeill Rangers. One of the more famous deeds of valor carried off by the McNeill Rangers was the incident in Cumberland, Maryland;the kidnapping of two Federal Civil War Generals,General Kelly and General George Crook. It should also be noted that two future Presidents of the United States could have also been kidnapped that night. Brigadier General Rutherford B. Hayes and Major William McKinley.John Singleton Mosby says when he referring to the raid, that he would have to enter Washington, D.C. and come back with Lincoln to better it.
