Confederate Naval Cutlass? ID help please!

Hello!
Recently bought this sword that was recovered from Mobile Bay, Alabama. Looks very similar in many features to some confederate naval cutlasses, but I have found none that are identical. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure that's what the seller said? It doesn't look like it's spent time in a marine environment.

Yes, I thought that too, but apparently it was found in the 40s buried in sand on the coast of mobile bay

Doesn't look quite like a cutlass to me, and seems to be in really good shape for being buried or submerged.

There is alot that just dont seem kosher to me..... the grip for one...... and the nut that is holding the grip and knuckle bow to the tang........ the knuckle bow is awful thin looking. Just alot of red flags that I see popping up

Agree whole heartedly w/ Republican Blues, that isn't CS it isn't even ACW. More likely an Indian made job some sheister "antiqued."

To begin with, the blade is completely incorrect for anything ACW.
