I w. as looking over this book for some information and thought some of our forum embers might find the book interesting. For example there were almost 20,000 Confederate military trials. The book covers the way the Confederacy operated this kind of thing. Being an ex MP I have read so many modern regulations and such on this (come on who else knows most of the sections in the US Army Military Code of Conduct).

Curious to know if it was any different to Military Justice on the Union side...I'm guessing they operated under the same rules? Is there a book like this for the Union army?

They probably operated under the Manual of Court Marshal and under General Orders. I have not seen a book on the subject. I did have a class on the history of Military Law at a Military Police school for commissioned Military Police officers Alabama. but I am sure it was not more than a two hour class. I also did a mail-in class on the development of Military Law, maybe a 4 or 6 hour sub course with a test I had to mail in and pass.
