Ammo Confederate Ammunition

I've noticed some discussion in other threads about rifle musket ammunition. Some of those posts were about the English version of the minie ball. The English was wrapped in a waxed cardboard tube, while the American version was wrapped In paper. I found this brochure by General Josiah Gorgas the Confederate Chief of Ordinates. I find it interesting that the English cartridge has been in use for about 3 years before the directive came out on how to use it. Ironically, I now live in Macon not too far from the site, which is represented by a simple marker.

Like all orders, the steps are carefully spelled out and on a target range hrlpfull. In the field under fire, I'm sure more tearing and less carefull untwisting took place.

It should be noted that the Historic Vineville Neighborhood District in Macon, is where you visit the Allman Brothers Band Museum at the "Big House."
