I checked out your Deviantart page.

Your Civil War colorizations are impressive.

I really enjoyed the Colorized Movie Gallery. I had forgotten all about the campy 50's movie It Conquered the World.

You pegged the "monster" . . . it looks just like a giant demonic beet.:bounce:

thanks man, I love the old cheesy classic horrors.

It's a crab demon from hell, or just one angry vegetable lol

Welcome aboard! How long have you been doing this and what tools do you use?
since the beginning of the year, but I have had many photos commissioned. I charge just a donation to my paypal. most people have given me 2 or 3$ depending on detail. I have done over 250 baseball photos.

I use a program called Paint.net, freeware online if you can find the right link. most of it is virus filled junk. it's like gimp but a lot easier to use in my opinion, also have used adobe illustrator and photo shop.

Thanks, not familiar with Paint.net. The price of $2-3 is very cheap, hope they don't take you long for that. You do a really nice job on the images, I had a look at your other images, just one minor suggestion, do a bit of research on the colors. I noticed that the cannons by the dead at Antietam are brown, they should be olive drab and it's hard to tell, but the Federal Artillery Colorized image looks like the shoulder boards for the ranks are blue, they should be red for artillery. Little touches help for authenticity.

Can't wait to see more!

Hi, Joe and welcome from central Missouri. I like the one of the two old guys on the stone fence.

I am not overly educated on the civil war uniforms and equipment. I try to look them up though.
I would like to have a place of reference to look at when doing these, havent really found such a place.

It takes me anywhere from 30 mins to 2 hours to do these.
I have one customer that I have done over 200 photos for (all baseball) i give him a discount due to just ordering so many.

200 for one person, great! Nice deal. Keep in mind though that if it takes 2 hours and you sell it for $3 you are making only a fraction of minimum wage, (just to keep in perspective).

There are a lot of things on this site regarding uniforms and ranks. There are a lot of charts and things showing what the colors should be. Some of these are the same for both Union/Confederate (i.e. Artillery = Red, Cavalry = Yellow, Infantry = Light Blue) and some that differ, (i.e. Union General stars are always white, Confederate, gold). Here is a rank structure for Union officers.

Your post of Gen. Alpheus S. Williams (for example) shows him with red (indicating artillery) on the insignia area. While it looks great, General officers always had only dark blue on the insignia area, so no red. Bravo on the insignia star on his uniform being red. He was in command of XII Corps which had a red star as its symbol. (perhaps that is why you chose red?)

If you have questions on some colors, just ask, lots of help here.
