Colored? Surrender monument at Vicksburg

If it's 1900, it has to have been shot in black and white and then colored later, wouldn't it?

It is a photochrom.
Photochrom[Note 1] (also called the Aäc process) prints are colorized images produced from black-and-white photographic negatives via the direct photographic transfer of a negative onto lithographic printing plates. The process is a photographic variant of chromolithography, a broader term that refers to color lithography in general.
