Cold Pie

Use leftover cold biscuits. Slice a layer of biscuits. Cover with applesauce, sprinkle with sugar. Repeat until you get as much as you want fixed. Cinnamon or nutmeg can be sprinkled on applesauce, if desired.

From: "The Foxfire Book of Appalachian Cookery".

Never had this. Seems very simple to make and worth giving a try. It is the pure basics, that's for sure.

Yes, maybe a little like the scones and jam in the UK? The recipe for those is heavier, and the tradition is that clotted ceam they use ( you don't want to know, that stuff would stop your heart after 3 bites it's so bad for you but you'd die happy ) but kind of the same.

I JUST made biscuits last night, to have with soup for dinner- always do that when the weather is this ridiculously cold- maybe will get out the applesauce today, thanks for this Donna!
