Just posting this little gem. Inscribed CDV of Col. W. M. Gregg, 179th NY (Petersburg & Battle of The Crater).

Gregg was wounded during the April 2, 1865, assault on Fort Mahone (Petersburg). The 179th New York was the lead regiment of Griffin's Division during the attack.

I see where the 179th was organized at the dreaded town of "Elmira", NY.
