I was reading into the Battle of Second Manassas and discovered this mans service in the war and an account of his death at the battle. He was the Colonel of the 30th New York. The men them days were made of stern stuff as the Colonel was shot in the face but continued to lead the attack before another mini ball struck him on the head , knocking him from the saddle and killing him. It was reported that the regiment lost anywhere from eight to ten colour bearers in their attack on the confederate line.
