I was off last week for our Fall Break. That allowed me some time to look through some of my dad's collection. I came across this:

The quarters of the period are called seated liberty and were the design from 1838- 1891 before changing to the barber style. They'd look something like this given the date and multiple variation throughout its use. This is a dollar version but the designs are the same.

He did very well to have gotten a piece from the Charlie Harris collection especially if it's featured in one of his books. Charlie Harris had a legendary collection like you wouldn't believe.
It might be that JH1961's father dug it, and Charlie Harris photographed it for one of his books. He used to set up at the shows with his camera. He photographed a few relics that I dug, but none ever made it into the books.

It's a bittersweet time spent uncovering my dad's 40-year collection. I'm grateful for the expert comments.

Here you go. This is in my mom's extensive 'trench art' collection. I recall seeing at least 1 other one in a different part of the house. When I find it I'll post it.
