I am a reenactor doing a confederate impression of a soldier from the 3rd Tennessee Reg Cavalry, i want to wear a slouch hat but im not a big fan of the plain open crown, does anyone know of some common crown or general hat styles of that time, also civilian styles?

@Package4 just beat me to it, was typing the same thing. Check out the research articles on the Adolphus site, there's great info there and a hat article. When you're ready to get one check out Dirty Billy's Hats, Clearwater Hats, and on Facebook Goober Grabber Headgear. They all make great hats and have quite a good variety.
