Hello

I'm looking for information on the wounded from Co. B 142 PA Regiment. I was told by the National Park Service that if their name appeared on the Pennsylvania Monument that they had either been wounded or killed. The person I'm looking for information on is William Hurst.

Welcome from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The regimental tablets on the Pennsylvania Memorial show the names of all the soldiers that participated in the battle, with the exception of those that later deserted or were otherwise deemed unworthy by the regimental survivors when the monument was erected. A small star beside a name indicates the individual was killed or mortally wounded. The following link shows the tablet for the 142nd Pennsylvania. Two Hursts appear in Company B, 1st Lieutenant Edward B. Hurst who is noted as being killed and Private William V. Hurst who appears to have survived.

According to Pennsylvania records, William Hurst was given a medical discharge in December 1863.
