Civil War Veteran?

I see his pin and his given age at the time of publication means he could have been a veteran. I can't speculate about the pin on his tunic, but I love his endorsement of Duffy's pure malt whiskey. The rest of you folks need to take time to read the front page in the link!

Maybe this guy:

Frederick Richter

Enlisted on 4/12/1864 at Brooklyn, NY as a Private.

There were also a couple of Friedrich Richters from New York, as well as a Frederick Richter of Brooklyn who appears in the 1890 U.S. Census Veterans Schedule as having served a few months in the 11ith New York Militia in 1861.

More stuff....

Fred Richter
- 11th New York State Militia Co.C. (Private)
Mustered May 28th 1862 for Three Months service, on Original muster roll name listed as Friedrich Richters (normal german spelling of the name). Militia unit apparently called back up again in 1863 for 30 days

May not be same individual. Muster roll in 1862 has age listed as 41 years old = B. @ 1821... News article in 1913 gave age as 69 years old... = est B. @ 1844....

Fred Richter
- 8th New Hampshire Infantry (Private)
