as any other reenactor feels, it would be amazing to have a battle where all the conditions where realistic. From cannon fire ,the moral,long, marches, battles expanding miles, and the threat of sudden death or injury. I have an idea of coming up with a paint ball to load in a enfield where it would fire just like a mini ball with out the devastating effects. anyone have any ideas and how to design it.

Better not hit my $200 hand sewn natural indigo dyed flannel sack coat or my $200 hand sewn sky blue kersey trowsers or my $100 museum quality forage cap with any d*mn paint balls :giggle:

well we would make it where the paint could simply be wiped p with a welt towel without staining them of course, cause id feel the same way if someone shot my uniform with a paintball and it stain them i have thousands of dollars wrapped up in uniforms

Some thoughts;

-Cannon fire would be almost impossible, You'd have to fire a water balloon filled with paint. And the water balloon would have to withstand the force hitting it. Which would mean it would be made of tough material. Which in turn makes it dangerous if it hits someone on the head.
-Same with mortars.
-There are different paintball fields that are quite large (not long marches large, but large enough). So either rent one of those out, or find someone who is willing to let you use their land.
-You'd have to make a CO2 driven enfield, which would be very difficult to mass produce. And the engineering would be very hard to come up with. Your best bet with that would be to just use regular paintball guns, but don't allow the loaders.

Easier to take existing paintball teams, give them new rules of engagement, e.g., increase reload times, adjust tactics, collect some authentic uniform parts. It won't be a battle without vast amounts of smoke and noise. The paintballers might enjoy a change of pace learning to drill etc.

well my idea prob would be taking a shot gun shell wading placing a paint ball in it and seeing if it woould work and then play with it till i got it to the point where the ball would burn up indisde the gun and it wouldnt be extreamly painful on impact just food for thought

Use single shot firing pumpers and promise to only fire 3 shots a minute. I could definitely agree to that rule for authenticity's sake.
