HF Civil War Novels Question

Has anybody ever read the Starbuck Chronicles by Bernard Cornwell or the Civil War Battle Series by James Reasoner? If so, are those book series worth checking out?

I've read the Starbuck Chronicles. There are four of them - the first covers First Bull Run, the second Balls Bluff and the Peninsula, the third Cedar Mountain and Second Bull Run, and the fourth Antietam. The series just ended. Cornwell is a great writer of historical fiction but a lot of fans were disappointed with him just ending the Starbuck series. He's said many times that he plans on resuming the series, but has not gotten around to it - and it has been maybe 20 years. The good news is that according to Cornwell's website, someone is attempting to adapt the series into a TV show so maybe he'll be forced to write more.

I read the books and loved them, but they just ended. I wanted more, and I know Cornwell loves his Sharpe books, but he has written other historical novel since then. They are worth the read.

I once ran into Cornwell on Cape Cod where he lives. I asked him about why the Starbuck Chronicles had just ended. He told me that his publisher had only contracted him to write four and they apparently did not sell very well according to him. He had other novels that he was contracted to write and so Starbuck got put on the back burner. He has stated he wishes to return to the series but the only issue is that he's in his mid 70s now and he still has half the war to go.

But as I stated in my first post, there is talk of it being turned into a TV show so maybe that will convince his publisher to have him return to the series. I also wouldn't mind someone else taking on the series if Cornwell would be open to that.
