Civil War holster

Greetings,

I have here a Civil War holster that seams to have been altered, don't know for which caliber. Unfortunately no makers mark. The hole in front of the holster matches an 1855 Springfield bayonet perfectly and there is a big tear-rip in the leather on the back side opposite to the hole, this tear-rip cannot be seen on the photo but it's there, it was flattened back in at one point . I wonder ?
