On the news this morning every program is talking about adult coloring books.I just had to look so I went to Amazon and they have 81 coloring books on the Civil War.great Christmas gift for grandkids.one book titled from Antietam to Gettysburg is the #4 book on amazon in the battles and battlefields category.
For the ladies there is one just on Civil War dresses.
Now for all of us that have nothing to do we can color, second childhood time.

I love the idea. I know a few artists who own books and color for fun, relaxation, and meditation. Helps ease your brain into that cool mental flow we all enjoy when we're concentrating on something enjoyable.

Amazon and Barnes & Noble have been really pushing the coloring books for adults lately, the one I go to even has a display with fancy colored pencils and colored ink pens along with the coloring books. It's supposed to be a relaxing, calming thing to do, sort of like therapy. I didn't realize they had Civil War themed ones! Must get a lovely one with pretty dresses in it! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for this post, nitrofd. I'm headed to Amazon right away!

OK, my wife loves her coloring book. Guess it relaxes her mindlessly concentrate on the page. But if there is an ACW coloring book, I do have to get her that.

That will put off the completion of my 5th NY cross-stitch thingy (which she's been working on and off for the last 10 or 15 years). Will have to run off to Barnes & Noble Friday.

There are 81 different ones on amazon ole.

The books by Alan H. Archambault are more than just coloreing books but also full of good information of the kind that would be of interest to everyone from grade schoolers to adults. They are also at offering in every NPS bookstore at good prices.

Ah, but there's nothing like real Crayola Crayons of our childhoods.

I live about 45 minutes from the Crayola factory in Easton, Pennsylvania. They have a place for kids called the Crayola Factory, where kids can do all kinds of painting, clay work, coloring, melted crayon artwork, etc. They also have exhibits and games for the kids. It's really cool! We took my son there many times when he was little--I miss it now that he's too old for it. You could even make your own "mixed" color crayons, and create a name for the paper label!

Just thought bump this older thread on coloring books. As I stated I like to color. Find it relaxing. I have many types. Do have a Civil War one and one on the First Ladies.

My late cousin really liked to color. She been into making her own cards and some painting. But when she got cancer she found coloring a help. I still have many of cards she sent. They are really beautiful.
