Hello All,
I found some items listed as Civil War in a local antique shop and I took some photos to show here. I don't think that this bugle is a Civil War bugle but my experience with ACW bugles is very limited. i couldn't see any markings. I'd like to hear any opinions! Thanks for checking this out!

My opinion from looking at it is that it's one of the reproductions of a British duty bugle. They crank those out by the thousands in India, and you see them show up a some sutlers. They are not really a musical instrument, more of a wall decoration. What makes me think that about the one in the photo is mainly the quality of the joints where the tubing is joined at the bottom and the joint just down from the bell, and where the mouthpiece attaches. Much too sloppy for a musical instrument. For a playable instrument, those joints must be carefully made in order to make a playable instrument. The joints in the photo are quite crude, and typical of what I have seen on the cheap, imported wall decoration bugles.
