I have to see Franklin again! I've been there lots and lots of times checking out the Carnton plantation restoration from near the time they started, every year until it was finished....if anything is ever finished. The whole town of Franklin is just so beautiful and historical. I just recently found exactly where my gg grandfather lost his leg so I must visit Hollow/Holly Tree Gap which was along Hood's retreat from Nashville. Maybe not near the battlefields as other places but great views from Fort Granger and Winstead Hill allow you to visualize real well. Every time I stand at Winstead Hill and look over the flat land between there and Franklin I just wonder why.......

If I didn't have a personal interest in a battlefield, my favorite would be Gettysburg. It sure impressed me the most. Since it does have so much commercialization, I'd guess that's because it's the favorite of lots of not dyed in the wool civil war enthusiasts. Of those large numbers of not dyed in the wool types, I'd think many probably get the same bug shared by those here of the CWT....and that's a good thing!

There were many key battlegrounds that had a large influence on the war and both of these are certainly among them big time, in my opinion.
