One thing that little old Augusta, Kentucky is doing, via the local group Civil War Augusta, is having fine folks, such as the people engaged on this forum, adopt a Civil War veteran's final resting place. We clean the stone and the area around it, then mark the grave with a grave marker and a flag. For $25.00 it is a nice way to memorialize that soldier's service, while helping a bit with raising funds for the group.

In Bracken County, where our efforts are focused, we have men from Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, and one gent who served in an Arkansas unit, all available to be "adopted." For more information please check out our website and adopt a veteran today!
