CHINESE NEW YEAR

Ooh, I should go by my favorite place, last year they had several things they don't usually have on the menu. I don't know what it's called but I love their traditional New Year's soup with dumplings.

There are alot of special dishes for new years.they like using dumplings then for it is a sign of wealth for the new year.we have some Chinese friends who are taking us to jacksonville on Sunday for new years at a restaurant that caters to asians.they are going to have the lion dancers there and dishes for new years.i know we will be having whole deep fried fish with a ginger and black bean sauce, a honey soy basted roast duck (which is better then Peking duck), alot of dim sum and a dish called crispy pork skin, which is really 1 inch cubes of pork belly served with hoisin. Sauce. It is really hard to eat bacon after you have had this.

I forgot to say that the pork belly is deep fried.really makes a difference.

This year is the year of the rooster. Past years of the rooster include people born in 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, and 2005. Here's a link to learn more about falling under the rooster sign - http://www.chinahighlights.com/travelguide/chinese-zodiac/rooster.htm

You can also read up on the other signs of the Chinese Zodiac and see what animal you are from your birth year. I'm a horse
