Member Review Chickamauga

I bought this yesterday at Half Price Books.

Have not cracked it yet- but one big criticism is the OOB does not break down brigades into regiments. ☹️

David Powell's series.

The Chickamauga Campaign - A Mad Irregular Battle: From the Crossing of the Tennessee River Through the Second Day, August 22-September 19, 1863

The Chickamauga Campaign - Glory or the Grave: The Breakthrough, the Union Collapse, and the Defense of Horseshoe Ridge, September 20, 1863

The Chickamauga Campaign - Barren Victory: The Retreat Into Chattanooga, the Confederate Pursuit, and the Aftermath of Battle, September 21 to October 20, 1863

I have read all of the books suggested and think all have their merits. Powell's three volume set is the most detailed. IMO it is well written with good quality maps to follow the action, but you are looking at about 1800 pages (on Kindle) and a considerable investment of time. Either of the other two will give you a good sense of the battle in fewer pages.
