I seeriously doubt these are CW era, *** I only go them for $10 at a public sale, but maybe some expert may be able to give me an idea of the age. They measure 4 5/8" across the front and stand 5 1/4 high and of course "Chevalier Opticien Paris is on the eye pieces. No year any where. As you can see the case is in pretty rough condition. Both ends are uncovered.

I won't say all, but I would believe most field glasses at this time were made by these guys. I just discovered the two bigger lenses, in the front extend out another 2" or so.

The French certainly had a major chunk of the optics industry for a very long time. Consulting with a museum curator once that was an expert on optics... explained that very little changed in the design from one of 1860's vintage to one made much later say 1920's... He detailed there are very minor differences in the focusing mechanics that evolved over time hence was the primary focus (no pun intended) of dating one to a given general age range.
