In these and other images I am always struck by the absence of trees, bushes and grass near the structures. Lots of dirt and mud. I guess they just clear cut everything in the area and didn't care much for looks.

I do not know how anyone can get that close to the edge.

It would terrify me and I'm not particularly afraid of heights.

We went on a hike in Costa Rica where there were a series of walking bridges going up in a park. The guide asked if any of the 4 of us were afraid of heights. My husband and another woman said "Yes." I said "No," but then added, "but I'm terrified of bridges." The bridges pictured here might terrify me more than the mountain.

My dad took photos in WWII and was a good photographer, and since then I've been married to an amateur photographer for several decades, so I have a love of photographs and how they show us history.
