I have been there a few times. I really liked the house. I went inside every time I visited. The view of Fredericksburg is a fantastic one. The garden is also very interesting. I can't remember the age of it, but since the house, if it can be called that was finished in 1771, it has to be old. I read an archaeological report on finding the original garden. It is worth the visit.

My great grandfather, James P. Smith, was a student at Union Theological Seminary when the war broke out. Even though he was born in Ohio and lived in Pennsylvania, he joined the Confederacy. After the war he returned to seminary and accepted a position as Pastor of the Presbyterian Church in Fredericksburg. There he met and married Agnes Lacy who was the daughter of Maj. J. Horace Lacy.
