Central Arkansas

Hello,
I am in central Arkansas and I am very interested in getting started in civil war reenacting but I am having trouble finding a unit online, can someone point me in the right direction of where to look?
Thank you.
No, I cant but good luck. "Tell us how you do".

Acknowledging @captaindrew page.

@Joyfulboy83 I'm down in the Texas end of the Ark-la-Tex and would be happy to help any way I can.

As for events in Central Arkansas I can't say I'm aware of hardly any. The Arkansas reenacting scene is mostly concentrated in the NW part of the State with Prairie Grove being the big one, I've heard tell there's an effort to get Pea Ridge going again but can't confirm. Other big scene, (and coming up soon) is a reenactment of the Battle of Prairie D'Ane in Prescott on the original battlefield October 31st-November 2nd. I'm planning on being there, and I'm sure something can be arranged to get you in the "fight" as some would say.

Outside of the NW and SW part of the State I'm not aware of too much. There's an event in Helena portraying that Battle but I'm not sure it's every year. Also it's in the SE part of Arkansas.

I know some SCV guys were trying to get a living history/reenactment of some kind going in Caddo Gap in Glenwood, closer to you geographically but still in the western part of the State but I don't know if they're efforts were successful.

I'd be happy to help any way I can. I'm planning on Prairie D'Ane and we actually have a living history in Fort Towson in Oklahoma where we'll be camping in the ghost town of Doaksville and be doing something for the last surrender of the war October 10th and 11th.

Also Honey Springs in Oklahoma will be happening in November.

I can't speak for elsewhere in the country, but I will warn you there is no just choosing one side to portray out here. You will have to wear blue every now and again. We all prefer the C.S.A. more or less but all wear the blue. It can be quite fun to be the "bad guy" though and it's nothing to dread. :D

Send me a PM and we can see about getting you started. I or any others you may fall in with can loan you a musket and maybe some gear to get you going, and your more than welcome to join me at Doaksville, Prairie D'Ane or Honey Springs this Fall.
