What is this? Cartridge Box

Any one have some suggestions on what this cartridge box might be ? Civil war ? Post? Union ? Confederate? It's a recent purchase I made

I mean the box does have tack nail marks in the leather
Neither of those are close to yours. I have never seen these on a US or CS cartridge box. The front cracking is from age and sun. But hope springs eternal :D

The photo in the document is talking about the boxes finial, not the studs
The majority of CS made cartridge boxes had cast lead finials as the South had more important things to do with brass then casting finials much less turning brass one. Just Sayin.
