From the construction and the 2 big brass dimple pattern studs on the back, its not US cartridge box and defiantly not CS.

Neither of those are close to yours. I have never seen these on a US or CS cartridge box. The front cracking is from age and sun. But hope springs eternal

The majority of CS made cartridge boxes had cast lead finials as the South had more important things to do with brass then casting finials much less turning brass one. Just Sayin.
