Captain David Poe

I recently found a picture of Capt Poe in his later years. I had found this earlier picture of a young man in uniform several years before. It was pictured on the cover of an EBook (on the computer) of the book that David Poe had written about his war experience. I did some searching and dismissed the photo as something added to sell the book. I had nothing to compare it to.

But, now that I have found the new picture of him in his older years.....it does look a bit similar. What are the chances of the people who did ebook tracking down a picture of him? Maybe it was possibly in the book? The copy i have has no pictures.

Anyone think it could be the same guy?

Maybe the uniform could tell us something? He was in Letchers guard at the beginning, then the 25th Va infantry then most of the war finishing in the 20th Va Cavalry.

Any information would be GREATLY appreciated.

I had to give this some thought. Why would you think the Ebook cover was not him? Why would you think it is him?

In their end we have little to go on. In general it looks like a Civil War uniform, but is it Poe?
