Does anyone have any information about Capt. Columbus A. Peddicord, who commanded a company of guerillas in the general area between Bowling Green, Ky and Nashville, Tenn in early 1863? He was apparently loosely connected to John Hunt Morgan's command. (Not to be confused with his brother, Kelion, who was an officer in Morgan's command.)
His service records show him as a private in the 2nd Tennessee, who in July, 1862, was "detached from regiment on secret service." He next appears in the area mentioned above as a captain leading guerillas. He and his men were captured at Portland, Tennessee in March 1863. He was exchanged in September and was sent to a Confederate hospital in Richmond, where he was first listed as a captain on Gen. Morgan's staff. There is a notation on the same page which says, "Not on staff of regiment." I have read his sister, India's book and a Confederate Veteran article on one of his men, Ellis Harper. Otherwise, there seems to be very little record of him or his "company."
Any information would be appreciated.
