This photo was taken on April 6, 2014 around 2:00 PM. The title is "Cannons on Cemetery Ridge", and of course, the cannons are on Cemetery Ridge at Gettysburg, PA. Full image is two posts below.

Thanks, I appreciate it! I didn't use telephoto lens, just a cheap Canon PowerShot.
There is some nice compression of distance going on in your shot. I think your "cheap" Canon camera analyzed it nicely when you did a center focus, and it compressed the scene for you. Regardless, it's a very nice and evocative photograph!
Cameras can do these things for us in a seemingly effortless way. The problem happens when we don't want them to make those decisions for us, but they do it anyway. Believe me, I know this from personal experience. Your shot is great! Thanks for showing it to us.
 
Love this! What Patrick H said...I love smart cameras--and I have a cheapie (compared to the hubby's giant Nikon) that does the thinking for me--and comes up with some darned good photos!

I love the light and the contrast between the soft, green grass and the hard, metallic gray of the guns.

My take on the same subject from the opposite end of the gun line; I like yours better!
