Co.I means Company I of a regiment.
ANV means the Army of Northern Virginia

My namesake was the Captain of Company I of the 4th Texas, Hood's Texas Brigade, Army of Northern Virginia.

Welcome!

That sword looks potentially like a US Field Officer's Sabre, but cannot tell more than that without more detailed pictures. Need to look at the decorations, makers imprints and any other engravings to tell more.

thanks to all of you.
The frame right now is in a blank vault "caveau" in Swiss (where i live), i can't open it till May.
As soon i can get access to the caveau i'll post more pics.
Thx in advice for ur help.

it's quite impossible to notice any engraving or markers due to the fact that the sabre is completely covered with ossidation.

Nice historical stuff. Better pics would be great. When you get your hands on the stuff we would like to examine them better. Nice document and pretty descent saber but not perfect. Love historical stuff

was Lee a confederate?
couse while surfing internet i have learned that's a Conf. saber.
am i wrong?
