As I'm anxiously awaiting my bullet ID books to arrive, I'm trying to use the interwebs to ID some of 400+ minies I recently acquired. I'm getting better at noticing the nuances between them,,and sorting them out by size into different containers in groups, so that i can keep narrowing each type down to separate and ID them all properly, but I can't find this one anywhere,, and it bugs me because it's the only one like it. I sorted a few dozen star and spoke bases, but they are all 3 ringers, , anyone have a clue? Maybe it's a post war hunting round?

It's not a post cw bullet. What caliber is it?

I'll caliper it tonight,,,I've been taking your advice about sorting out the 3 ringers first, etc, etc. It's made it alot easier,,at first I was trying to do each one individually, one by one,, ugh,, my eyes were getting crossed. Sorting them by rings first has certainly made it easier!

Looks like a US .58 Swaged Base Bullet that has had the bottom ring carved off.
