I bought this as a Civil War period bullet mold, although I know nothing about it. Can someone tell me if it is indeed Civil War period and if the bullets it made were commonly used?

(I was so tempted to put this on the arms message board and see how long it took folks to realize it belonged on the medical message board.)

Do you know the caliber of the bullets this forms?

I have never considered medical suppositories in terms of caliber; probably because I've never thought much about them at all. That concept must be thought out and standardized by pharmacists based on the composition and dosage. There must also be a history of this development stretching back in time. What was their role in the Civil War? Alas, the mold is currently in the dinosaur room of the house in Kentucky and i am currently in Virginia.
