The husband and father was ki...lled on September 19, 1863 on the first day of the battle between Southern and Northern armies at Chickamauga. This left a widow with the burden of a large family to raise and educate. This she assiduously herself to and with the aid of the three boys has grown into a very large and influential one.
Mrs. Power joined the Baptist Church at quite a young and lived a consistent Christian until her death. The Church has lost a faithful member and the community a real "Mother of Israel".
The funeral services were conducted at the Baptist Church by Reverend J. J. Twitty and the remains deposited in the New Cemetery in the presence of a large gathering of relatives and friends though the weather was very unpleasant.
To the bereaved family the Plowboy joins the community in condolences
