I just read an article published on 7/26 from Tampa Bay Times that the 40 year reenactment of the Brooksville Raid in Hernando County is ending, most probably due to the recent racial unrest of our country. I would be interested in reading thoughts of reenactors....will other reenactments in the USA also be impacted?

I had posted about this event. It is canceled. The property they held it on is owned by Boy Scouts. They have many issues, mostly financial. I think the climate of time played a part too.

I would not be surprised it could affect other events. Hope others post their input.

Thank you Donna....I strongly believe that the relevance of the current climate in our country will and has definitely impacted our history. God bless you!

From what I gather it had more to do with the scouts. That event was held at a boy scout camp and sponsored by the scouts. They have a lot of issues going on right now including financial trouble. I'm sure the political climate and the plague panic probably put it over the top especially with the scouts moving to be PC in everything.

I know just about all of our reenactments this year from March onward have been cancelled. This weekend was the first one since March, though I was not able to go, and a few in the near future are still on for now while a few others have recently been called off. Just from personal experience, most of this has been Coronavirus related and due to the need to social distance rather than related to anything else currently going on.

I just attended a get together with my northern group in New England. They have access to a nice piece of private property so with all the cancellations they've been getting together once a month and camping out and doing some drill to stay active. Sure was nice to be around the campfire again, haven't been since the beginning of March in Florida. We're planning on attending the Lady Farm event next month in Gettysburg and Cedar Creek which are still on at the moment, hope they happen.
