Brits playing Gettysburg table game

Looks like they located Stuart!

Miniatures gaming is not something I'd have ever expected as the basis of a teevee show -- even British teevee, which is a strange world unto itself.

That is interesting, reminds me of a game I played with my sons in the 90's called War Hammer 40,000. It also used measuring sticks, blast radius templates and dice. We would play for hours using the whole family room as a battlefield. There were mall stores you could go to and wage battles on tables similar to that in the video. The coolest part though was painting the characters.

I could see my sons and I playing that civil war game, is there a link to a website that I can follow up on?

Tabletop war gamming is huge in England! It used to be huge here in America at one time also. It would be harder to locate a ACW game than a WWII game. Anyone interested in creating there own ACW game can go to www.ghqmodels.com. Or if your more interested in WWII wargamming try www.flamesofwar.com.

Strangely it seems that Naval wargaming has a strong following on your side of the pond with several companies producing high quality miniatures in a variety of scales. I think the boss of one suck is a member here.

I played 30mm CW figures when I was in high school, very early '60's. My friend and I tried to get 1/2 turn each morning before leaving for school.

By late high school we were into WW2 1:1200 naval games. That lasted through college, then went to playing 1:1 real life naval games.

See! See! You won that Revolutionary War by cheating sir, yes cheating! I hope you are all thoroughly ashamed of yourselves. It's simply not cricket.

In the Patriot there is that marvelous exchange between Cornwallis and Martin in which Cornwallis complains that it is wrong for Martin to target British officers. If you kill off the officers and leave just the men you will have chaos on the battlefield, he complains.

Yes I remember that scene :D There's something similar in the film 'Waterloo' where Napoleon is seen riding amongst his troops and a young artillery officer asks permission to fire on him. The Duke of Wellington looks incredulously at the officer and says " Certainly not. The commanders of armies have better things to do than shoot at each other."
