Prince William purchases of 22 acres of Bristoe Station battlefield land

Prince William County has acquired 22 acres of core battlefield land to be incorporated into Bristoe Station Battlefield Heritage Park. The purchase, finalized Aug. 14, allows the county to protect a site that saw combat during both the Battle of Kettle Run in August 1862 and the Battle of Bristoe Station in October 1863. Bristoe Station Battlefield Heritage Park in Bristow will encapsulate more than 160 acres. The American Battlefield Trust in late 2021 purchased the property, which is bordered by Bristow Road and the Norfolk Southern rail line.
