Now Florida but always a Kentuckian
This is a great biscuit to serve with supper of fried chicken or pork chops..

1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
about 1/4 cup lard or shortening
1 scant cup milk (sweet)

Combine all dry ingredients in a medium bowl; make a nest in the center of ingredients. Add most of the milk and shortening in next; begin squeezing the lard, flour and milk until thoroughly mixed.

Add remaining milk, if needed, and mix to combine. Turn dough onto a floured board; knead until consistency desired. Cut into biscuits. Bake at 425 degrees until golden brown.

Makes 12 to 13 biscuits.
