I was looking through Genealogy Trails for Florida. Ran into an interesting ailment i have never heard of before.

Mobley, Samuel
Company E - 1st Florida Cavalry
"Died of 'Bone Scurry' at Camp Chase, Morton, IN.,
Jan. 29, 1865;
captured at Missionary Ridge"

I tried to find out what it is, but no mention online.

So what is money scurry anyways?

I would agree with @Albert Sailhorst . Scurvy does a real number on your bones. It interferes with new bone formation and causes resorption of bone. It causes osteonecrosis (bone death) and osteopenia (lack of bone) which leads to fractures. In addition to lack of vitamin C, the use of alcohol and the use of tobacco are risk factors. Bleeding is another manifestation of scurvy, and that includes hemarthrosis (bleeding into joints) and subperiosteal bleeding (bleeding below the outer covering of the bones), to the point of anemia. Virtually any kind of wound healing is going to be difficult.
