Does anyone have information on uniforms worn by east coast Civil War era Boat Clubs? The question is in reference to identifying Civil War era naval uniforms. How similar were Boat Club uniforms to sailor uniforms?

Here are the three Boat Clubs in Detroit for an example.

The Detroit Boat Club
(Detroit, Wayne County) wore uniforms similar to the U.S. Navy uniforms.

The Zephyr Boat Club (Detroit, Wayne County) which formed in 1860 also wore naval style uniforms, but the Zephyr Boat Club uniforms were different from those of the Detroit Boat Club. James A. Armstrong was the club president.

Peninsular Yacht Club (Detroit, Wayne County) there is no uniform
information available for them.

The Detroit Boat Club still exists and celebrated it's 175th anniversary earlier this year (formed in 1839). The image below is from their website. The person on the lower level is holding oars and has a "single" at his feet. From the looks of his attire (mainly the shapes of parts of it) he may well be wearing a uniform.

Great photograph. This might be their uniforms. I will try to get a better view of the photograph to study the uniform.
