During the Manassas Campaign, General Lee called in "The Black Horse Cavalry" and gave the m the responsibility of the communication between himself and Stonewall Jackson.
Is there a book where I can find out more information about the Black Horse Cavalry?

There are many references to the Black Horse Cavalry in Hennessy's Return to Bull Run.. I'm sure the bibliography can point you in the right direction.

The Black Horse Cavalry was established as a volunteer militia company of cavalry by some Warrenton, VA lawyers about 1858.
their pre-war uniform was in the cavalier fashion...

Here's the CS Army jacket of Alexander Hunter, now in the collections of the Smithsonian Institution. He was a private of the 17th VA Infantry when the sister of man killed at Second Manassas gave it to him. He transferred to the Black Horse Cavalry (Company H, 4th VA Cavalry) shortly afterward and wore this jacket with them through the close of the war.
