While at the CCNMP, I met a ranger that told me there was going to be a monument rededication and not to miss it. The monument in question is where BG William H. Lytle fell mortally wounded. Here's a little something about it: http://www.cincinnaticwrt.org/data/News_Events_docs/LytleFlyer.pdf The Honor Guard was represented by the 10th Ohio Volunteer Infantry.

Left is the CCNMP Park Superintendent and to right is her boss, the Chief of the District headquartered in Atlanta. The other two fellows are former camp commanders of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War.

Excellent photos and restoration, thanks for posting. Why does the 10th Ohio have Chaplin Hills and Perryville listed on their flag? Two different names for the same battle.

That, I'm afraid, you'll have to refer to someone MUCH more knowledgeable than I. :D

Thanks, everyone. Glad you liked 'em.

Here's an article about Lytle and the original 10th Ohio I wrote over thirty years ago for Military Images Magazine. One of the best images in my collection is a large albumen print that is used here on the title page showing the burial detail at his Oct., 1863, funeral in Cincinnatti that was drawn from members of the regiment, one from each company. I've wanted for some time to post it here on the forum, but at approx. 12" X 16" it's too large to fit on my scanner; I suppose the copy from the magazine will have to do! ( The magazine publisher furnished the accompanying photo of Lytle. )
