I guess I don't know what a "Berdan DST" is.

Does the OP mean a Sharps New Model 1859 double set trigger used by Berdan's Sharpshooters?

Is your rifle a M1859 and have the JT inspector's cartouche on the flat? There also needs to be a punch mark on the inside cover of the patch box. If a M1859 you are certainly in the range of the 42nd PA "Bucktails" as 57275 was issued to Co D.

Most respectfully, the "punch mark" on the inside of the Patch Box Lid is common to all of the Sharps Rifles, not just to just the Berdan versions. Unfortunately, it is a myth that has been perpetuated for quite some time.
